'Rallye des Gazelles' rose, caramel centre washed with cream, Francis Roses field

'Rallye des Gazelles' rose, three blooms on the plant

The Selection Note

The caramel-and-cream color first distinguishes this rose. Its fragrance, lemon and rose opening to ripe pear and sandalwood, gives it another reason to stay. It has been in our Arizona fields since 2020, grown without fungicide and trialed in Arizona, California, Texas and Vermont.

Origin

The rose honors the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles, an all-women off-road rally from Nice to Essaouira navigated without GPS. Christine Lagarde, who chairs the rally's environmental committee, is its godmother; the rose was christened on May 13, 2022, at the Chantilly Plant Days, with Arnaud Delbard present.
